"Path in Paradise"
New Paintings from Georgia's Coast
Four days on Jekyll Island, one of Georgia's barrier islands known as the Golden Isles, was a wonderful balm after the very intensive Olmsted Plein Air Invitational. My husband, Browning, had his Annual Conference for the Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and I tagged along. We had some free time at the beach, saw great friends, ate some delicious seafood, and I painted while he conferenced. Here are the results.
I used the same panoramic format for all four paintings, as the views were calling for a breadth this shape provided.
Each of the four vistas I chose were so indicative of the nature all around you in this part of the world.
"Path in Paradise" was my first painting and shows the mystery, silence, and serenity found among the live oaks and large pines hanging with Spanish moss. You get a peek of the expansive Marshes of Glynn.

My second piece was painted right on the edge of the dunes leading down to the Atlantic. They are beautiful and undulate like an extension of the waves and are a rare and fascinating sight. Here is "Path Through the Dunes."

The next day our sunny weather changed and I sat on the beach to paint "Isolated Storm." It was wonderful to watch the clouds shift and see the rain out at sea.

And finally "Headland" was from a magical spot I had stumbled across in my rambling around. I love the view over the lawn surrounded by twisting oaks, looking out to sea through the masses of land-saving brambles and bushes. And I always love a palm tree!
