It's been in incredible summer!

My Painting Trip to Aix-en-Provence, France and  Ravello and Florence, Italy was a whirlwind of beauty.

It was my most productive trip ever - 34 new plein air pieces including 13 oil paintings and 21 watercolor paintings.

Since then I have been teaching Plein Air watercolor in my beloved Montreat, NC,  to State College, PA in the really special, and successful, Central PA Festival of Art, and have enjoyed my 8th Annual At Home Show and Sale.

I have felt thankful for brisk sales and many very appreciative viewers.

As a professional full-time artist for 24 years, I am well acquainted with the roller coaster ride or tidal surges of art-making and art sales. It is not always easy to keep an even keel and I have to dig deep to keep the faith when things don't go the way I hope. My father, who was very wise and new all about the nature of self employment, once told me that I had to learn to look at the big picture - i.e. the success of the past 6 months or even the past year, and not at the success of singular shows. This is not always easy! But I have learned that the tide always turns, and to be prepared emotionally and physically for these inevitable shifts. So, I am always so very happy and thankful when I am riding on top of the wave! And hope this surge will carry me all the way through the next two shows.
